Seen scrambling up a rocky embankment less than 10 feet from water's edge. The photo is of the hole into which it crawled; unfortunately you cannot see the lizard's head which was visible from outside the opening (diameter of opening is about 2 inches). The lizard escaped out another opening and crawled into a tangle of roots growing out from the top of the embankment. Regenerated tail.
