Even though it is currently recognized as a subspecies, it is more likely a dewlap color phase in a given population as there are red dewlap males not far from where this individual was found. This photo was taken at Oscar Scherer State Park near one of the bridges, where I followed this anole around while it was displaying and showing it's pale throat which is the distinctive characteristic of this "subspecies"
