The Green Cat Snake has a long body, head distinctly broader than neck, and large eyes with vertical pupil. Body color is green whereas color of lower jaw is cyan. long prehensile tail that makes it pure arboreal . Hatchlings are reddish brown with a green head. Color of hatchlings start to change after 8–9 months of age. The green cat snake is a species of nocturnal opisthoglyphous snake found in Bangladesh, India (Sikkim, Darjeeling & Jalpaiguri in West Bengal, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Nicobar Islands), Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Thailand (incl. Phuket), Myanmar, West Malaysia, and parts of China (Yunnan).
