The sun had set behind the mountain and things were starting to cool down. While exploring a boulder pile, I spotted this one literally a split second before stepping on it. It remained coiled up in its spot on the boulder under a justicia plant while the group took turns photographing it. These are in situ photos, not posed. This was the prettiest of the Black-tails we have found on the preserve to date.
