Notes:
Rusty. Found in ambush beneath a salt bush just as the morning was starting to warm up. Position this morning is 58 meters west of where this snake set up ambush on evening of 05/04/2011 and 108 meters south, south-west of the den where the snake spent the winter. Ten minutes after I began observing the snake it began to crawl. It took a fairly direct route to a Neotoma nest beneath a large boulder located 42 meters east, south-east of it's ambush spot, where it crawled completely out of sight. This Neotoma nest is located 22 meters southwest of where the snake set up ambush on 05/04 and 106 meters south of the winter den. GPS coordinates for this record are for the salt bush beneath which the snake was first found today at 9 am.
